BIRTHDAY BOY - words and music by Ween
**from the album "God Ween Satan - The Oneness"

One of the best songs on God Ween Satan, Birthday Boy is a nice Gener tune
to play around with on an accoustic. When playing the Am chord during the
verses simply release your finger on the D string and hammer it back on.
Just listen to the album and you should be able to figure out the timing...
I also included the C7 chord for those who aren't familiar with it dudes.
There's another version at the bottom that was sent to me by racer-x.
Bart Hutchinson gets an assist on the powerplay for helping too.
Jon Bernstein also added his 2 cents about the verse. Check it oot.
Desert Yam sent in version four at the bottom.

Version 3*****************************************************************

try doing the "help me now" part like this:
Gmaj7 G7 walk down from C note to Am
E |==2=== ==1=== =========
B |==3=== ==0=== =========
G |==4=== ==0=== =========
D |==5=== ==0=== =========
A |====== ==2=== ==3=2=0==
E |====== ==3===
(walk down)
Gmaj7 G7 C--B---Am (these are just notes, not chords)
Help me now, I'm going down
G Em C---G
and I don't know if I'll be ok--ay
Gmaj7 G7 C--B--Am
I'll be around, I'll be in town
G Em C---G
If you need a place to sta--ay

Version 4*****************************************************************

i thought i might submit the way i like to play "birthday boy"
its similar to some of the others that are posted, but in more detail

"Last time I saw you..." part:

G Em C G
e|--3----0---------- e|--0----3--
b|--0----0---------- b|--1----0--
g|--0----0---------- X 3 then g|--0----0--
d|--0----2--0--2-0-- d|--2----0--
a|--2----2---------- a|--3----2--
e|--3----0---------- e|-------3--
(hammer on/off d-string after Em)

I.E.

G Em G Em
"Last time I saw you, I was holding your hand..."

G Em C G
"...and I couldn't wait for you to leave... "

(same chords for next 2 lines)

then

"Help me now..." part":

mod. mod.
G G7 C (B) Am G Em C G
e|--3----1-----------0-----0--------3----0----0----3--
b|--3----0-----------1-----1--------0----0----1----0--
g|--0----0-----------0-----2--------0----0----0----0--
d|--0----0-----------2-----2--------0----2----2----0--
a|-------------------3--2--0--------2----2----3----2--
e|----------------------------------3----0---------3--
(modified G and modified G7 = normal G and G7
without hitting the E or A strings)
G(mod) G7(mod) C Am G
Em C G
"Help me now, I'm going down, and I don't know if
I'll be OK... "

and same with next line

and that's virtually the whole song
